Neuschwanstein Castle can only be visited as part of a guided tour; officially, this takes around 30 minutes. Guided tours are also offered for Hohenschwangau, where the tour lasts around 45 minutes.
Hohenschwangau, Alpsee and the Museum of the Bavarian Kings are close to each other. They can be comfortably combined into a half-day or full-day excursion.
The Alpsee circular route is listed at about 5.2 kilometres and around 1.5 hours. The Schwangau circular route measures 14.3 kilometres and leads via Mühlberg, the Tegelberg valley station and Hohenschwangau.
